Head Chef Head Chef Dominique Majecki and his team are celebrating being awarded Best Hotel Restaurant 2022 at The Food Ireland Awards held over the weekend in Dublin.

The Food Awards Ireland 2022 recognise the success of Irish based professionals and establishments that continue delivering great flavours and experiences to their customers. The winners, say the organisers, are a true reflection of high standard and customer service, as they are chosen by members of the general public, who often have eclectic gastronomic tastes.

Dominique joined the g Hotel in March as Head Chef and on his appointment said at the time – “I am really looking forward to this new chapter at the g Hotel & Spa and to working with the team here in Restaurant gigi’s in creating exciting menus using the amazing local produce that the West of Ireland is so lucky to have”.

Hailing from Laval in the Pays de la Loire region of north west France, Dominique brings his vast experience to the Hotel and joins from Glenlo Abbey where he was Executive Head Chef since 2018. He also worked in the two Michelin starred Le Centenaire in les Eysies-de-Tayac in the South West of France, Lock’s Restaurant in Dublin and whilst travelling on a round the world trip he became a key part of the award-winning kitchen team at the Two Hat The Point restaurant.  Returning to Galway in 2007 Dominique worked as a sous chef in the Ardilaun Hotel, before joining the team at the Lodge at Ashford Castle in 2015.  In 2018 he arrived at Glenlo Abbey & Estate as Executive Head Chef, where he oversaw the renovation of the kitchens, created menus for Palmer’s Bar & Kitchen and achieved the 2 AA rosette standard in the well-known Pullman Restaurant.

Restaurant gigis is already a 2 AA rosette award winning restaurant where guests can enjoy menus that are filled with the best and freshest produce that the west of Ireland is famous for. Dominique and his team will host the upcoming Bubbles & Pearls Champagne Seafood Supper Club on Thursday 22nd September, the second in the Super Club series which will celebrate the best of oysters and seafood available locally, paired with Champagne Taittinger.
