Pigtown Parade, Limerick: Limerick Food Group will celebrate Culture Night by bringing back the Pigtown Parade. Leaving Bedford Row at 6.30pm our giant Pig family (which is growing yearly) will walk the parade route, along with guest floats, and all our new piglet masked family that want to partake before ending at the Limerick Milk market where we will have face painting, Pigtown mask making with LUMEN and a mobile petting zoo among other highlights.

This year Pigtown Culture & Food series starts on the 17th of September, where we will build up to the parade with Limericks favourite Pig family doing guest appearance in local Limerick establishments before their big day out on Culture Night.

Sourdough Culture, Dublin : Sourdough (bread) culture and the significance of the Bretzel Bakery in this historic quarter will be the focus of this year’s talk, including how the food culture has changed in the 21st century, and lockdown sourdough mania.

Outdoor talk (weather permitting) will be on the half hour, at 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm, while the Bretzel Bakery itself will stay open until 9pm on Culture Night. A select range of sourdough bread, pastries, coffee & tea will be available for purchase and free sourdough starter culture will be handed out during the talk. 

Buttermaking,​ Cork: Enjoy the old craft of butter making from cream with a glass tabletop churn. Performed by a representative of the Butter Museum in Shandon.

Boxty and Tunes, Cavan: ‘Boxty & Tunes’ is a celebration of the potato, the traditional Irish food. 

There will be harvesting of our potato crop, a live cooking demonstration on how to cook boxty, and warm boxty served to everyone present. A traditional Irish music session will fill the room with lively melodies.

Interactive Cookery Demonstration with Catherine Fulvio, Wicklow: Join Irish Celebrity Chef and Wicklow native Catherine Fulvio for a fun filled, interactive cookery demonstration in Dunlavin as part of Culture Night. Growing up on a farm in Ireland, Catherine can really appreciate the source of our daily ingredients and actively thinks about the way our food is produced. Catherine will demonstrate a new delicious dish especially designed for this celebratory event.

This 45 minute event is perfect for families who want to come together and learn an easy recipe using seasonal ingredients.
