An evening of events in Dublin City that was to be followed by a string of early morning meetings the subsequent day prompted an overnight stay in our amiable capital city. As central as possible was our only criteria. Cliff Townhouse, please stand up. Situated on the exclusive St. Stephens Green, this gallant georgian building houses far more than we were able to enjoy due to the aforementioned work events.
We booked a Park View Room for the night which cost €215.00. Bijou with a wonderful view. A king size bed clad in white linen swallowed up most of the precious space but this was fine. All the necessities were in situ. The restoration and maintenance of a property like this is no mean feat and every part of this beautiful residence oozes class and elegance.
Walking through this beautiful boutique hotel the stunning design of Urchin Bar and Cliff Townhouse Seafood Restaurant stand out in all of their exquiste glory. This is a spot we will definitely treat ourselves to dinner and cocktails in before this year is out. The Marine theme is strong throughout the property but more especially in Urchin with its beach antiquities and cool blue and white tones.
We returned later than we would have liked and fell into the luxurious king size bed. An exceptionally mild night called for the window to be left open, the gentle babble of chat from the passing pedestrians outside eased off soon enough as it was a Monday night.
Waking early, refreshed from a restful slumber we were adamant not to miss out on the most important meal of the day. Travelling down to the restaurant bright and early to sample what was on offer. The reward for our early start was a window seat and a feast that saw us breakfasting like kings.
To start, and yes, it was more than one course, three to be exact. To start we were presented with freshly squeezed orange juice, Glenilen Farm Natural Yoghurt and a snack size portion of mixed fruits. Following on from this was the prettiest part, a three tier cake stand filled with warm toast as well as freshly baked brown bread and pastries. For a Tuesday morning, or make that any morning this has to be the best way to start the day. Last but by no means least was our cooked to order hot course.
The Dubliner Full Irish proved far too tempting to pass up while Eggs Florentine with Spinach occupied the more refined palate at this breakfast table. Both dishes packed a flavourful punch and certainly set us up for a busy day ahead.
If you are looking for affordable luxury with Georgian class throughout, located in the heart of St. Stephens Green, book into Cliff Townhouse. A Taste Experience that we throughly enjoyed and can recommend with ease.
