This Christmas, treat yourself or someone you love to Festive Afternoon Tea, €35 per person, at The Johnstown Estate in Enfield, Co Meath, just 35 minutes’ drive from Dublin.
The perfect spot to get into the Yuletide spirit, the Georgian grandeur of the original house is complemented by the season’s twinkling lights, decadent decorations and open fires, set against the backdrop of the Estate’s magnificent grounds spanning 120 areas of parkland.
The Johnstown Estate Festive Afternoon Tea is served in The Atrium, an airy, elegant space lavishly decorated with a tall Christmas tree and a must-see Gingerbread Village which features a church, school, houses, a railway and little villagers, all under the watchful guard of two tall nutcrackers.
Guests will enjoy seasonally inspired finger sandwiches like turkey on sweet cranberry sourdough, honey-baked ham with wholegrain mayonnaise, Marie Rose Prawns, and delicately smoked Gubbeen with tomato relish. Sweet treats include seasonal cakes and pastries – think Lemon and Lime Christmas Log, a Gingerbread Cookie Snowman, mince pies, more-ish macaroons, snowflake-shaped shortbread, mini Christmas puds and chocolate mousses dressed as Christmas trees, as well as freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and seasonal jams.
Afternoon Tea is accompanied by a selection of JJ Darboven teas and freshly brewed coffee while a selection of wines and cocktails is available to order. Alternatively add some bubbles and opt for The Johnstown Estate Sparkling Afternoon Tea, served with Prosecco, €43 per person.
