This Easter classic takes on an indulgent twist with the addition of Butlers 40% Salted Carmel Chocolate – an essential addition to your Easter celebrations this year!
Ingredients
6 Hot Cross Buns
Butter to spread on buns
600ml Milk
400ml Cream
4 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
150g Caster Sugar
200g Butlers 40% Salted Caramel Bar
Method
- Pre heat oven to 180° C degrees
- Slice the buns in half and spread with butter
- Arrange the buns in a greased baking dish (15cm x25cm). Chop the chocolate bar and scatter over the buns.
- To make the pour-over custard; warm the milk and cream together. Separately, whisk the eggs, vanilla and sugar till pale in colour, and whisk into the dairy mixture.
- Pour the custard over the buns and allow to soak in for 15 minutes. Place in a large deep sided dish and fill the outer dish with water until it is halfway up the side of the inner dish. Sprinkle with some more chocolate. Bake for 45 minutes. Serve hot.
