Renowned riverside gastropub The Dropping Well, located at Classon’s Bridge in Milltown, Dublin 6, has just unveiled arefreshed seasonal menu while also spotlighting its dedicated private event spaces positioning itself as a top choice for both casual dining and special occasions in the capital.

Established in 1847, The Dropping Well is a cherished part of Dublin’s hospitality landscape. As part of the Chawke Pub Group, the venue has long been known for its food-led focus, scenic views of the River Dodder and strong ties to the local community.

Steeped in history, The Dropping Well has stood on the banks of the River Dodder since 1847, when it first opened during the Great Famine as both a community morgue and public house. Originally established by John Howe, the pub has since passed through generations of owners and witnessed pivotal moments in Irish history from famine-era tragedy to the 1926 introduction of the “Holy Hour” by Minister Kevin O’Higgins, a regular patron. Today, the venue blends its storied past including tales of in-house boxing rings and political intrigue with modern Irish hospitality, making it one of Dublin’s most atmospheric and historically significant pubs and restaurants.

The new menu introduces a mix of contemporary Irish favourites and refined comfort food, including:

  • Fillet of Wild Atlantic Halibut
  • Homemade Parmesan & Herb Gnocchi
